Man Sees Image of Jesus on Footstool
TOLEDO -- It's the holiest weekend on the Christian calendar and a bizarre sighting is confirming one man's faith. Roberto Colon, 46, claims he can see the image of Jesus Christ on a wooden footstool.
Ironically, Roberto lives on Church Street in east Toledo. The vision first came to him Saturday morning. He says something prompted him to look in the hallway. "Something just told me to look over and I looked over and there it was," said Colon.
Roberto says the image is easier to see when you stand back. "From a distance you can see a figure of what looks to me to be Christ the Lord," he said.
Roberto's wife, Kathy, confirms what her husband witnessed. "It was right there ... he just said go look right there and as soon as I looked I seen it, but since then I haven't been able to see it, but I did at that second," she said.
Roberto says the timing of the event has inspired him to share his vision with others. "Now He comes to me in a visual. I don't know if it means anything. I figured it might be a good story for Easter," he said.
In 2005, a Point Place woman said the image of Jesus appeared to her on a pierogi. Donna Lee later sold the Polish dumpling for $1,775 to an online casino.
Roberto says he'll keep the footstool for now. However, he isn't ruling out an eBay auction. He believes starting bids could be anywhere from $100,000 to $500,000.
